ALWAYS BY OUR SIDE

Sadly sadly sadly we had to put Bernard PhD down on Sunday. He had been sick for some time, and was only getting worse. He managed to get up off his bed and walk around to all of us individually for a cuddle. I am sure he knew that the vet was coming. We held him whilst he slipped away. It was peacefully heartbbreaking. Bernard was the most gentle, loving and intelligent dog ever (hence the PhD), even though he was a little stinky at times.

I can't believe that I will never be able to squeeze his snout again, or pat his bottom until his back legs went all wobbly. He was full of love.

Thank you so much Bernard, here's a little song for you.......

A little tear rolls down my cheek. At least we can send our best friends away with the dignity they deserve. RIP Dr.Bernard.(say hi to Gimble from me)

Oh Pod, my thoughts are with you. I have experienced the loss of several dear puppies (well, not really puppies but I always thought of them as such) and the pangs still hit me sometimes. Bernard does look very 'gentle, loving and intelligent' and I am sorry that you can no longer play with him or seek out his doggie advice and comfort. But I always tell myself that I will be with my pups again someday. Love never really dies - it just changes shape. Peace.

Y'know I actully have this song but I got bored with his music. Who knew Trent E. Moller had such a 'gentle' track!?! Nice.

Peace & light.

Hi,
I came to visit through Chedwick and read your sad post. I am sorry for your loss and have been there myself. Our animal companions just don't live as long as we do. Perhaps his spirit will come back to visit.

Hope you are ok Podders. That little face at the top makes me want to stop and snoodle that little dog. What a sweet face. I hope you are alright. Gentle faces that leave us. I can relate to that right now.

I have been slow to wander my blog-friends' sites while I've been wrestling with wrapping up a final project for my class.

My dear Pod, belated but very heartfelt hugs to you.

It's a heartbreak, ain't it?
I still miss my old gone-on cats...

Some day I'll tell you stories about Stu the Cat. For what it's worth, I saw an insanely fast butterfly zoom around my head sparkling in sunlight right after Stu died...always thought it was his little wave goodbye.

Oh Pod! I can't believe I've not been here in that long. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Bernard is making me cry. He looks like he was such a good boy. Why is it that most really good dogs are stinky do you think? I feel for you. I really do. That song and video are so haunting too. Not sure why I'm so upset really. Dogs are such special creatures... the world needs more good souls like his. Gone, but not forgotten.

Oh God, my eyes are starting to tear up, and I never even knew him. I am so sorry, Pod. I am sorry that I've been such a MIA visitor and didn't even manage to see this until today. (The blogosphere is thoroughly intimidating nowadays, but I know that's no excuse.) I am sorry that you had to say goodbye to Bernard. I am sorry that Bernard had to say goodbye to you. I'm am full of sorrow all around, and I hope you're holding up okay--including all the titchy little stresses that you don't mention on this blog--even though I know me saying this won't do a damn thing.

Take care, Pod.
